Facial Liposuction
While diet and exercise are healthy weight-loss methods, it is nearly impossible to remove excess weight and saggy skin around the face without facial liposuction. Even those who have remained fit their entire lives find their confidence dragged down as aging deposits additional fat in their face.
What Can Facial Liposuction Correct?
Facial liposuction can rid you of the unwanted and unattractive fat that has accumulated around:
- The cheeks
- Under the chin
- On the neck
- In front of the ears
For those who have lacked definition in their face, facial liposuction will remove the excess fat deposits that restrict facial definition.
Candidacy for Facial Liposuction
A patient must be eighteen years old to be considered for facial liposuction. Additionally, it is vital to be in good physical and mental health, as the appearance of your face will drastically change.
Liposuction can successfully improve facial appearance by removing lingering baby fat and fatty deposits in the facial region. However, realistic expectations and goals must be held prior to the surgery to ensure your contentment with the results. All of this, including the type of anesthesia required, will be discussed during your initial consultation with Dr. Daria Hamrah.
How Facial Liposuction is Performed
The facial liposuction procedure is similar to other liposuction procedures except smaller in scale and time (it only takes approximately an hour to perform). Dr. Hamrah will use a small tube, called a cannula, to remove the fat. The cannula is inserted through a tiny incision placed in an inconspicuous location on the face. Using a suction syringe or pump attached to the cannula, the fat cells are extracted. The result is a resculpting of the fatty areas into more attractive and more youthful facial contours. Once the fat has been removed, the incisions are closed and recovery begins.
The Recovery Process
Recovering from facial liposuction can take upwards of two weeks. During this time, it’s important to sleep on two pillows to keep your head elevated. Bruising and swelling peak about five days after the surgery and then will gradually subside.
Diet is likely to be restricted. High bacteria foods such as raw fish and rare meat must not be consumed.
After a few weeks, all bruising and swelling will have dissipated and the results will be visible. Occasionally, numbness persists but should subside after a few weeks.
