Mission Trips through Alegria Foundation

Alegria is a non-profit organization that was founded to provide surgical repair of cleft lip and palate to children in rural areas of Colombia, where even the most basic of medical and surgical care is far beyond reach for the majority of people. Each year, Dr. Hamrah and other surgeons from the US and Colombia donate their time and talents to perform cleft palate repair on children who would otherwise not be able to receive this care.

Last year, Dr. Hamrah along with his team were able to perform corrective surgeries on 45 kids, ranging in age from 10 days to 40 years. The team was faced with financial challenges and lack of supplies which limited them to help even more children in need. The funds needed will provide for medical supplies, medication and clothing as many of these children come from underprivileged background.

A second medical mission to Colombia is planned in May-June 2016 to continue to provide medical care to children there.
