Facelift Variations
While you are probably familiar with the term facelift, you may not be aware that there is more than one variation on the traditional facelift, and depending on your desired outcome a traditional facelift may not be the right choice for you. At Nova Surgicare, Dr. Hamrah offers four types of facelifts, but will tailor your treatment to meet your desires.
4D-Facelift
The 4D facelift is considered the most extensive facelift and includes several procedures which are all performed in the same appointment, if possible. By penetrating to the layers of your muscles under your skin, a 4D facelift offers the longest-lasting benefits when the procedures are performed correctly. These procedures include:
- Endoscopic brow lift, or midface lift
- Multivector or multilayer face and neck lift
- Chemical or laser resurfacing
Depending on your desires and the extent of the appearance of aging, your skin type and your skin pigmentation, Dr. Hamrah will choose the procedures most likely to give you the best outcome. As with any surgical procedure, you should be aware of the limitations of a facelift, which you can discuss with Dr. Hamrah at your consultation.
Traditional Facelift
A traditional facelift does not penetrate the layers of your face like a 4D facelift, but instead simply tightens the skin of your face, removing the appearance of lines and wrinkles for a time. This is performed by tightening the skin of your face in the brow, cheek, and jaw areas. If your facial muscles are still firm and your suffer primarily from laxity in your skin, a traditional facelift may be right for you.
Limited Incision Facelift (“Mini-Lift”)
A mini-lift is often preferred by individuals showing the first signs of aging. As a less invasive procedure, it requires less recovery time, but will also have a shorter longevity than a full facelift. If you have minor lines and wrinkles, but chemical peels and dermal fillers cannot adequately meet your needs, a mini-lift may be your best option.
Midface Lift
A midface lift is also commonly used for individuals showing the first signs of aging, particularly if the greatest amount of wrinkles is in the forehead area and around the eyes. A midface lift affects the brow and eye area primarily, though some residual benefit may occur lower in the face as well.
You should be aware that no facelift will last indefinitely, and over a period of time you will notice the appearance of lines and lax skin. However, when correctly performed, a facelift can remove the appearance of years from your face and help you look and feel younger and healthier than before.
